Indelec P8011 Digital Flash Lightning Strike Counter
The Indelec P8011 Digital Flash is a lightning flash counter that keeps a record of every direct lightning strike on an external lightning protection system. It clamps directly onto the down conductor. When lightning current flows through the conductor, the counter registers the strike by induction, which gives a reliable on-site record of how many strikes the installation has taken.
Why a Lightning Strike Counter Matters
Lightning protection systems must be inspected after a lightning strike. A counter shows exactly when the system has been hit, so maintenance teams know when an inspection is due. The P8011 is the ideal companion for installations protected by an Indelec Prevectron® 3 Early Streamer Emission air terminal:
- Prevectron 3 S40 (P1523): 40 µs advance time, for medium-sized buildings
- Prevectron 3 S50 (P1533): 50 µs advance time, for larger buildings and industrial sites
- Prevectron 3 S60 (P1543): 60 µs advance time, for the largest protected areas
Detection and Display
The P8011 detects lightning currents from 1 kA up to 100 kA, and the running count is shown on a 6-digit digital display. It is powered by replaceable lithium batteries (Indelec ref. P8017). Its IP67-rated enclosure is designed for permanent outdoor installation on the down conductor.
On-Site Testing
The counter can be checked on site with Indelec’s dedicated tester (ref. P8015), so its operation can be confirmed during routine inspections.
