The XUZC39 is a genuine round reflector, 39 mm in diameter, from the Telemecanique Sensors XU photoelectric range (formerly Schneider Electric OsiSense XU). It is the passive half of a reflex detection system. Mounted opposite a reflex or polarised reflex sensor, it returns the emitted light beam to the sensor, so the sensor switches its output when an object breaks the beam. How a Reflector Works in Reflex Detection
In a reflex system, the transmitter and receiver are housed in the same sensor, so only one side of the detection zone needs wiring. The reflector on the opposite side sends the beam back to the sensor. With polarised reflex sensors, the reflector also changes the polarisation of the light. This lets the sensor tell the reflector apart from shiny objects passing through the beam. Using an original Telemecanique reflector gives the reflection behaviour the sensor is designed for.
