The XU8M18MB230 is a cylindrical M18 photoelectric sensor from the Telemecanique Sensors XU range (formerly Schneider Electric OsiSense XU). It uses diffuse detection with background suppression: the sensor detects objects within its set range and ignores anything behind them, such as a machine frame, wall or conveyor structure. Its universal 24–240 V AC/DC 2-wire connection lets it replace a mechanical limit switch or proximity switch directly, on both AC and DC control circuits, without a reflector.
