The XU8M18MA230 is a universal-voltage M18 photoelectric sensor from the Telemecanique Sensors XU8 series, formerly sold as Schneider Electric OsiSense XU. Its normally open (NO) output switches on when an object enters the detection zone. That makes it a natural “object present” signal for counting, presence checks and machine sequencing. Background suppression ensures that only objects within the set range are detected, regardless of what lies behind them.
MA vs MB: Choosing the Output Function
The XU8M18MA230 and XU8M18MB230 share the same housing, detection mode and supply. The only difference is the output function:
- XU8M18MA230: 1 NO. The output closes when an object is detected.
- XU8M18MB230: 1 NC. The output opens when an object is detected.
Choose the MA version when the control circuit needs a signal that turns on as an object arrives.
