IFM KI0203 Capacitive Proximity Sensor
Technical Specifications & Features
The IFM KI0203 (shortcode: KI-2015-BBOA/NI) is a reliable capacitive proximity sensor engineered for level monitoring, position detection, and non-contact target sensing across various industrial applications. Built into a durable cylindrical threaded M30 x 1.5 plastic housing made of PBT with a total length of 81 mm, it utilizes a non-flush mountable installation design. It provides an adjustable sensing range of 3 to 15 mm (factory set to a rated sensing range of 15 mm), a real sensing range ($Sr$) of 15 mm $\pm$ 10%, and an operating distance of 0 to 12.1 mm. Material correction factors for target detection include water = 1, glass approx. 0.4, ceramics approx. 0.2, and PVC approx. 0.2.
Key Operational Benefits & Electrical Data
-
Electrical Ratings: Operates on a 2-wire AC/DC architecture with a wide operating voltage range of 20 to 250 V AC/DC, a protection class II rating, a minimum load current of 5 mA, and a permanent switching output current rating of 200 mA (up to 250 mA for general applications or 100 mA for specific UL applications).
-
Switching Performance: Features a normally closed (NC) output function with a maximum voltage drop of less than 10 V AC / 8 V DC, a switching frequency of 25 Hz (AC) or 40 Hz (DC), a hysteresis of 1 to 15% of $Sr$, and a switch-point drift of -15 to 15% of $Sr$.
-
Environmental & Mechanical Protection: Rated to IP65 for dependable dust and moisture resistance. It operates efficiently within an ambient temperature range of -25 °C to 70 °C and incorporates high noise immunity against conducted radio frequency interference, a clear red LED status indicator, and an integrated 2-meter PVC cable (2 x 0.5 mm²).
