The Panasonic AFP7MC16EC is the 16-axis EtherCAT motion control unit for the FP7 PLC. It mounts directly on the FP7 system and controls up to 16 real axes plus 8 virtual axes over a single EtherCAT network. Supported slaves include Panasonic MINAS A6B and A5B servo drivers and the SL-VGU1-EC S-LINK V gateway. On one unit it handles single-axis positioning, interpolation control and synchronous control (electronic gear, clutch and cam), with a 1 ms communication cycle when all 16 axes are used. Servo wiring is reduced to a single network cable per axis chain, which saves cabinet space and commissioning time on multi-axis machines such as packaging, assembly and handling systems.

Panasonic Application Notes
