Burkert 426498 – Type 8045 Electromagnetic Insertion Flowmeter, PVDF Short Sensor, 4–20 mA
The Burkert 426498 (00426498) is a Type 8045 electromagnetic (MID/EMF) insertion flow transmitter. It is the base variant of the 8045 range with a G 2″ process connection, with these features:
- Short PVDF sensor
- Stainless steel (316L) electrodes and earth ring
- PC housing
- FKM process seal, with a spare EPDM seal included
- Two outputs: 4–20 mA current output and a digital pulse output
- Two M20 × 1.5 cable glands
It mounts into any Bürkert Type S020 insertion fitting with a G 2″ sensor connection.
No Moving Parts
The 8045 works on Faraday’s law. An E-shaped magnetic system inside the sensor creates a field across the flow, and two electrodes in contact with the liquid pick up a voltage proportional to flow velocity. With no paddle wheel, bearings or other moving parts, there is nothing to wear or block. This makes the 426498 suited to conductive liquids that would shorten the life of a mechanical sensor. The only requirement is a minimum conductivity of 20 µS/cm.
Which Pipe Sizes It Fits
The 8045 with G 2″ connection covers pipes from DN 06 to DN 400 through the S020 fitting range. The 426498 has the short sensor, which Bürkert assigns to T-fittings and the smaller S020 sizes. Larger saddle and spigot fittings use the long-sensor version, 426499. The fitting’s K factor, or an on-site teach-in, converts flow velocity into volume flow.

Configuration on Site
All setup is done from the display. Available settings include:

A test menu lets you simulate every output and calibrate the zero point. Bürkert recommends installing the sensor at 45° to the pipe’s horizontal axis. This keeps deposits and air bubbles away from the electrodes. The meter is not suitable for gases or steam.
