Kobold SMN-5250 – SMN All-Metal Flow Switch for Liquids, Stainless Steel, 1″ NPT
The Kobold SMN-5250 is an all-metal flow switch for liquids from Kobold’s SMN series, with a stainless steel body and wetted parts and a 1″ NPT female connection. It combines a very low switch point with minimal pressure loss at high flow rates, and it is rated for pressures up to 350 bar (approx. 5,000 psi), higher than the brass version.
Stainless steel gives better corrosion resistance than brass, which makes the SMN-5250 suitable for demineralised water, aggressive cooling water, contaminated media and hygienic applications, as well as very high-pressure systems. The switch works on the float principle: a float with an integral magnet is pushed by the flow and operates a reed contact at the switch point. When the float reaches the end of its travel, an additional flow path opens, so high flows pass without a significant increase in pressure drop. When the flow falls, the float is returned by an opposing magnetic field.
