Kobold SMN-5150 – SMN All-Metal Flow Switch for Liquids, Brass, 1″ NPT
The Kobold SMN-5150 is an all-metal flow switch for liquids from Kobold’s SMN series, with a brass body and a 1″ NPT female connection. It is designed for applications that need a very low switch point combined with minimal pressure loss at high flow rates, and it withstands high pressures.
The SMN works on the float principle, but without a conical metering tube. A float with an integral magnet is pushed by the flow and operates a reed contact at the switch point. When the float reaches the end of its travel, an additional flow path opens, so high flow rates pass without a significant increase in pressure drop. When the flow falls, the float is returned by an opposing magnetic field. This makes the SMN ideal for cooling water circuits, high-pressure cleaning systems and heating systems, where a no-flow alarm is needed but the switch must not restrict normal flow.
