The Omron ZX2-LD50 0.5M is a CMOS laser displacement sensor head from Omron’s ZX2 Smart Sensor series. It is a diffuse-reflective, spot beam head with a measurement centre distance of 50 mm, a measuring range of ±10 mm (40–60 mm) and a resolution of 1.5 µm. It has a 0.5 m cable to connect to a separate ZX2 amplifier unit.
The ZX2 measures distance with micron-level precision. It is used for height, thickness, positioning and double-feed detection, and remains stable even when the workpiece colour or material changes. Its small spot beam (approx. 60 µm) suits small targets and fine features. The head is built in a compact resin case (47.5 × 35.5 × 22.6 mm), which Omron describes as the world’s smallest CMOS laser displacement sensor head of its kind, so it fits in very tight spaces. With IP67 protection, a robot cable as standard and a low temperature characteristic of 0.02 % F.S./°C, it delivers reliable measurements in demanding environments.
