Burkert 445323 – Type 2031 CLASSIC Pneumatically Operated 2/2-Way Diaphragm Valve
The Burkert 445323 (00445323) is a Type 2031 2/2-way piston-operated diaphragm valve from Bürkert’s CLASSIC range. It is an externally controlled valve made of three main parts:
- A pneumatic piston actuator
- A diaphragm
- A flow-optimised 2-way valve body
The diaphragm hermetically separates the medium from the actuator. This makes the Type 2031 a proven choice for high-purity, sterile, aggressive and abrasive media.

Bürkert builds every Type 2031 from a product key that combines body type, connection, surface finish, diaphragm material and actuator size. Article 445323 identifies one fixed configuration of that key. When replacing an installed valve, the type label confirms the exact body, diaphragm and actuator combination, so a like-for-like 445323 drops straight into the existing line.

Diaphragm Options and Temperature Limits
- EPDM (AD): -10 to +143 °C, steam sterilisation up to 150 °C for 60 min
- PTFE/EPDM (EA): -10 to +130 °C, steam sterilisation up to 140 °C for 60 min
- Advanced PTFE/EPDM (EU): -5 to +143 °C, steam sterilisation up to 150 °C for 60 min
- GYLON®/EPDM laminate (ER): -5 to +130 °C, steam sterilisation up to 140 °C for 60 min
All four diaphragm materials comply with FDA requirements, are tested to USP Class VI and are suitable for food contact under EC 1935/2004. With a PA actuator, the medium temperature is limited to 100 °C.
Operating Data
- Control functions: A (normally closed by spring), B (normally open by spring) or I (double-acting). All are bidirectional.
- Operating pressure (CF A): Up to 10 bar for most diaphragm and actuator combinations
- Pilot pressure: 5.0 – 7 bar, depending on diaphragm and actuator size
- Control medium: Air or neutral gases
- Pilot air port: G ⅛ (actuators Ø 40/50) or G ¼
- Ambient temperature: PPS actuator up to Ø 80 mm: +5 to +140 °C; PA actuator up to Ø 125 mm: -10 to +60 °C

- 3-A Sanitary Standards certificate (variable code PE05)
- EHEDG certificate
- Optional ATEX/IECEx explosion protection, category 2 (zone 1/21 and 2/22)

Automation
The Type 8697 position feedback unit can be added at any expansion stage. A Type 2031 with Type 8697 forms the CLASSIC on/off valve system Type 8801-DA/DB.
