The 5GU5K from Oriental Motor is a GU-type parallel shaft gearhead with a 5:1 reduction ratio, for 90 mm (3.54 in.) square frame motors with a GU-type pinion shaft. Its 15 mm metric output shaft is larger than the 12 mm shaft of the GN type. With the low 5:1 ratio, the output runs at about 360 r/min at 60 Hz (300 r/min at 50 Hz), which suits faster conveyors, roller drives, fans and pumps that need only a moderate speed reduction. The gearhead mounts directly on the motor flange and can be swapped to change the ratio without replacing the motor.
