PPD-11A-3D-Y-Z-74-1 Winner Hydraulics Low-Leakage Proportional Reducing/Relieving Valve for Brake Circuits
The Winner Hydraulics PPD-11A-3D-Y-Z-74-1 combines three properties in a single 11A-3 cartridge: low pressure with no command, a direct-acting, essentially zero-leakage design, and improved dynamic response. Winner states that this low-leakage construction makes the valve suitable for brake circuit applications. Maximum leakage is approximately 20 cc/min, half that of the standard PPD-11A-3D-Y-Z-74. It is rated for 20 L/min at up to 350 bar, can operate below 1 bar, and is covered by US patent US9234605.
Operating Principle
The valve reduces inlet pressure (port 2) to a controlled pressure at port 1. Increasing the coil current raises that reduced pressure proportionally; at zero current it sits at the low end of the range. If pressure at port 1 exceeds the commanded setting, the valve relieves to port 3 (drain) at full flow. Between reducing and relieving the spool closes, minimising oil consumption.

Frequently Asked Questions
How does the PPD-11A-3D-Y-Z-74-1 differ from the PPD-11A-3D-Y-Z-74?
Both share the same cavity, flow, pressure ranges and function (low pressure with no command). The -74-1 is the low-leakage version, at approx. 20 cc/min versus approx. 40 cc/min, and Winner states that it is suitable for brake circuits.
What is the difference between PPD and PPC?
The PPD gives low pressure at zero current, and the pressure rises as current increases. The PPC (e.g. PPC-11A-3D-Y-Z-74-1) works the other way: high pressure at zero current, falling as current increases.
Does back pressure affect the setting?
Yes. According to Winner, back pressure at port 3 adds directly to the valve setting at a 1:1 ratio.
Is there any recommendation at high inlet pressures?
With inlet pressures of 210–350 bar, Winner recommends keeping the reduced pressure at port 1 at a minimum of 30 bar for best control.
