The Panasonic FD-42G is a threaded reflective-type fiber with an M4 fiber head, 25 mm long, and a top-view beam. Panasonic classifies it as a small-spot fiber for general-purpose detection. Its 2 m cable can be cut to length on site and bends to a tight R2 mm radius, so it routes easily through compact machines. The head accepts eight different Panasonic lenses, which can focus the beam down to a ø0.4 mm spot for detecting very small parts or precise edges. The FD-42G is Panasonic’s official substitute for the discontinued FD-G4 fiber, so it is the part to order when replacing an FD-G4 on existing equipment.
