IFM KI5023 Capacitive Proximity Sensor
Technical Specifications & Features
The IFM KI5023 (shortcode: KIE3015-FPKG/NI/55V) is a robust capacitive proximity sensor engineered for continuous level monitoring, bulk material detection, and non-contact position sensing. Built into a durable cylindrical threaded M30 x 1.5 plastic housing made of PBT with a total length of 125 mm, it features a non-flush mountable installation configuration. It includes an easily adjustable sensing range via an internal potentiometer, a rated sensing range of 15 mm, a real sensing range ($Sr$) of 15 mm $\pm$ 10%, and an operating distance of 0 to 12.1 mm. Target material correction factors include water = 1, glass approx. 0.4, ceramics approx. 0.2, and PVC approx. 0.2.
Key Operational Benefits & Electrical Data
-
Electrical Ratings: Operates on a DC PNP architecture with a wide operating voltage range of 10 to 55 V DC, a low current consumption of 14 mA (at 24 V), a protection class II rating, and a high permanent switching output current rating of 250 mA.
-
Switching Performance: Features a selectable normally open / normally closed (NO/NC) output function, a maximum voltage drop of 2.5 V, a switching frequency of 40 Hz, a hysteresis of 1 to 15% of $Sr$, and a switch-point drift of -15 to 15% of $Sr$.
-
Environmental & Mechanical Protection: Rated to IP65 with increased immunity to conducted radio frequency interference. It functions smoothly within an ambient temperature range of -25 °C to 70 °C and incorporates built-in short-circuit protection, overload protection, reverse polarity protection, a yellow LED switching status display, and a convenient terminal chamber with an M20 x 1.5 cable gland that can be rotated by 90° for flexible wiring.
