Indelec P8016 Advanced Flash Lightning Counter
The Indelec P8016 Advanced Flash is a lightning flash counter that goes beyond simple strike counting. It records the date, time, peak current and polarity of every direct lightning strike on an external lightning protection system. This gives maintenance teams, insurers and safety managers a complete, time-stamped history of each discharge, not just a total count.
What the P8016 Records
For every lightning event on the down conductor, the P8016 stores:
- Date of the event (dd/mm/yy)
- Time of the event (hh:mm)
- Peak current (±10 % accuracy)
- Polarity of the lightning current
It detects strikes by induction as the lightning current passes through the down conductor, from 1 kA to 100 kA (10/350 µs wave). The data is shown on a 16-character digital display.
Advanced Flash vs. Digital Flash
Indelec offers two main lightning counters for down conductors:
- P8016 Advanced Flash: records date, time, peak current and polarity of each strike. Ideal when you need a detailed strike history for inspection reports or risk analysis.
- Indelec P8011 Digital Flash counter: counts the total number of strikes on a 6-digit display. A simpler, cost-effective choice for standard installations.
Built for Outdoor Installation
The P8016 is IP67 rated and fixes directly to the down conductor with the specific clamp supplied. It runs on a replaceable battery (Indelec ref. P80170) and can be checked on site with Indelec’s dedicated tester, ref. P8015. It complies with EN 62561-6.
Pair It with a Prevectron 3 ESE Air Terminal
The P8016 is an ideal companion for installations protected by an Early Streamer Emission air terminal such as the Prevectron 3 S60. Every strike the air terminal intercepts is recorded with full detail.
